Pittsburgh, PA - The Chemicals Division of the Bayer Corporation, a multinational conglomerate based in Pittsburgh, has chosen Edgeworth, Inc., a Pittsburgh-based human-capital consulting firm, to help implement its new compensation program, which has been designed in cooperation with Hewitt Associates LLC, a compensation-planning firm headquartered in Lincolnshire, IL.

Edgeworth will facilitate communications to achieve an understanding of everyday supervisory and plant-floor activities. Because the new compensation plan contains a variable pay component that affects the individual worker's paycheck, it is important that all employees first understand the plan so that they can embrace it. This understanding of the plan has been deemed the most important step, given that most employees can be critical and suspicious when any changes are made that affect pay.

Edgeworth has designed a game that will provide an overview of how the plants within the Chemicals Division operate, including cost of materials, labor, inventory issues, and connections between quality and financial success.

As a result of early program successes, Bayer has contracted with Edgeworth to provide financial training, in the form of a customized game, for the entire corporation.
